On Saturday March 19th 2022, Mersaco & Diater held a hybrid event entitled “Shift towards SimplicITy - Using Innovative Techniques” at Gefinor Rotana Hotel, Beirut with the virtual attendance of Lebanese and international healthcare professionals.

During the opening ceremony, Mrs. Basma Ghalayini, Mersaco Business Unit Director for Diater welcomed all attendees, followed by an introduction on Diater portfolio presented by Guillermo Palacios, International Sales Manager.

Dr. Tito Rodriguez Bouza MD, PhD, a medical Doctor and allergy Specialist in Spain, highlighted the advantages of Sublingual Immunotherapy in terms of efficacy and safety. He also emphasized on the importance of Beta-lactams diagnosis during his second intervention.

Dr. Carla Irani, Associate Professor of Medicine, Chief of Internal Medicine and Clinical Immunology Department at Hotel-Dieu de France Hospital (Beirut), shared the updates on the mechanisms of action and efficacy and safety of subcutaneous immunotherapy along with case studies which illustrated a real-life clinical indication.

Tackling “Immunotherapy in Asthma, friend or foe?” Dr. Salah Zeineldine, Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine, Assistant Dean, Director of Pulmonary Physiology Laboratory – AUBMC, shed light on the pros and cons of immunotherapy, whether it can be adopted and beneficial based on patient’s profile.

Dr. Zeina Baz, Associate Professor of Pediatrics, Allergy and Clinical Immunology – St. Georges hospital , addressed “Allergen Immunotherapy in Children”, showcasing recent clinical indications. This session was moderated by Dr. Usama Hadi, Clinical Professor at the Department of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery at AUBMC.

An open discussion between the speakers, the virtual and in-person participants concluded this scientific journey.
